At Noire Wellness we are working to impact, empower and transform the lives of the African and Caribbean health & wellness community. We therefore welcome and support the #RightToBeActive campaign being led by the Sport and Recreation Alliance.
This campaign will help add further value to our focus on childhood obesity & mental wellness amongst African and Caribbean children living in the UK. The campaign highlights the need for the UK government to take action by creating new laws, creating long-term strategies and introducing new legislation to give every child the fundamental #RightToBeActive.
On 25th September 2018, the Sport & Recreation Alliance announced the next stage in their #RightToBeActive campaign with the launch of their petition. With inactivity, lack of spaces and declining mental health amongst children and young people we hope you will join the Sport and Recreation Alliance’s call for government to give every child the fundamental #RightToBeActive by signing the petition here.
The government recommend all children and young people should engage in moderate to vigorous intensity physical activity for at least 60 minutes and up to several hours every day. However, figures suggest that this may not be happening amongst the 17.7 per cent of white British children and 29.9 per cent of black Caribbean children who are obese when they leave primary school.
